Counting down to Santa Dash

THE COUNTDOWN to Christmas will see hospice chiefs take the wraps off their second festive Santa Dash fun-run along the River Severn in the city.

The St Richard’s Hospice Santa Dash takes place on Sunday, December 8 and will see crowds of runners take on the two-mile, family-friendly jog.

Following a warm-up at New Road, the route will follow the river to Diglis before returning to South Quay where there will be festive refreshments.

Alison Parkes, hospice fund-raiser, said: “We are so excited for our Santa Dash and can’t wait to kick-start the run up to Christmas in style.

“Last year’s event was brilliant and we loved seeing everyone dressed up in their jolly Santa suits and taking part.

“This year, we’re calling for each Santa to raise at least £40 in support of our care to patients, their families and bereaved people.

“So, whether you run, jog, walk or skip your way around the course – we hope you can join us and help raise funds for the hospice this Christmas.”

Each participant, except those under three, will get a free Santa suit to wear on the day.

Registration takes place at the Graeme Hick Pavilion, at the cricket club in New Road, Worcester, from 9am for a 10.30am start.

The Worcester Lions Club will be at the event with its Santa Sleigh, cheering on runners as they cross the finish line.

Adult tickets cost £15 – while tickets for children aged three to 16 are £10.
