Congregations will come together in Walk of Witness

CHRISTIANS in Warndon are taking part in a walk of witness this Good Friday (March 25).

People from the congregations of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Chedworth Drive and from St. Wulstan’s Parish Church in Cranham Drive will be joining together in walking from St. Joseph’s via Shap Drive and Cranham Parade to St. Wulstan’s.

The walk starts at 10am and will finish with drinks and hot cross buns at St.Wulstan’s at about 11.30am.

Father Paul Johnson, the priest at St.Joseph’s and the Rev Charles Thomas, the vicar of St.Wulstan’s said the idea for a local walk of witness came out of a discussion they had as to how the congregations of the two churches might join together.

They hope the walk by joining together in solidarity with Christians across the globe will be a fitting way to mark this key event in Holy Week.

All are welcome to join the walk, during which a wooden cross will be carried between the walkers.

The walk will be stopping at various points along the way for hymns to be sung, and for the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection to be told.
