TRADE Union bosses in Worcester saw red to show their opposition to racism.
Members of Worcester Trades Union Council and other trade unionists gathered outside Unite’s Worcester office with banners and flags to show support for Wear Red Day.
Wear Red Day is an annual event organised by Show Racism the Red Card, a charity which works in schools and other educational settings throughout the UK offering training and resources designed to educate young people about the causes and consequences of racism.
A WTUC spokesperson said: “Trade unions oppose all forms of hate, whether targeted at ethnic and religious minorities, migrants, refugees, LGBT+ or women.
“A crucial part of this is fighting against conditions which allow such hate to flourish, such as low pay, insecure work, job losses or attacks on terms and conditions at work.
The huge inequalities that exist in society today present fertile ground for those who seek to spread hate, blaming minority groups and others for a mess that was not of their making.”
