CITY residents have the chance to get their electric blankets safety-checked at an event being run by Age UK.
The charity will be on hand at Malvern Gate on Bromwich Road on Tuesday (October 30) from 10am to 4pm for the checks. Free replacements will be provided for any blankets which fail the test which costs £2.50
There will also be the chance for people to book free home energy checks and get advice on staying safe and well this winter.
Station Commander Steve Andrews from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service’s community risk team said: “This is a great opportunity to demonstrate some of the work we do around fire prevention in the community.
“At this time of year we see an increase in incidents caused by electric blankets and would urge anyone to take advantage of these testing sessions.”
