Christmas tree to return to St John's roundabout

Worcester Editorial 1st Dec, 2021   0

ST JOHN’S residents have been handed ‘tree-mendous’ news after council chiefs vowed to bring festive joy to the village in the city.

An additional decorated tree will be installed on the Bullring roundabout on December 10 in addition to the illuminations already in place on the large, permanent tree at the roundabout.

Following a question from Coun Richard Udall at last night’s (Tuesday) council meeting, council leader Coun Marc Bayliss has delivered an early Christmas present to St John’s residents.

“It is a tradition to have a tree on the bullring roundabout and I have asked council officers to find us a tree that can be put there,” he said.

“I am looking forward to it adding hugely to the festive spirit in St John’s and Bedwardine.”

The City Council is this year investing £35,000 in festive lights, decorations and trees to entice more visitors to Worcester this Christmas.

There are decorated trees by the Cathedral, in St. Andrew’s Gardens, Gheluvelt Park and in front of the Guildhall, as well as 24 lit trees above shops and businesses throughout St John’s to help boost the festive atmosphere in the area.
