Charity cash is on the menu

A POWICK restaurant served up a tasty Chinese banquet to raise £852 for the Rory the Robot Appeal.

The meal was held at the Four Seasons restaurant, hosted by owner Frankie Tsang and organised by Rory the Robot committee member Andrea Borwell-Fox.

Following a traditional Lion Dance provided by a local dance company, guests sat down to enjoy a full Chinese banquet which included a dim sum platter, crispy duck/pancakes, sizzling beef, king prawns and sweet and sour chicken.

Guests took part in heads and tails and a charity raffle which helped raise the funds towards the Rory the Robot, which provides state-of-the-art treatment to treat prostate cancer.

The surgical robot will be installed at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch and will deliver a better outcome for prostate cancer patients following surgery.

Currently there are 2,500 men at any one time receiving treatment and living with prostate cancer in Worcestershire.

There are roughly 150 men in the county that undergo surgery for prostate cancer every year with about 500 new cases being diagnosed in Worcestershire each year.

Ian Jukes, Chair of the Rory the Robot Appeal took the opportunity to thank guests for their continued support, as well as thanking Frankie Tsang and his staff for his hospitality, before updating everyone on the status of the Appeal:

“We welcome all events that can be staged in our community to contribute towards the costs of the robotic surgical unit for the Alexandra Hospital.

“I had the opportunity to speak to several guests who showed an interest in holding their own event for Rory and help the appeal in that way.

“It was wonderful fun as well as helping our appeal,” he added.
