Charity auction to boost the arts

Worcester Editorial 1st Apr, 2016 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

THE PACE is set to be fast and furious as the Swan Theatre plays host to a fund-raising auction of prizes and promises.

The event will raise funds for Worcester Live – the charity that runs not only the Swan Theatre, but also Huntingdon Hall, the Historic Ghost Walk of Worcester and the annual Worcester Festival.

Expert and ‘all-round great personality’ Charles Robinson from Griffiths and Charles Auctioneers will lead the auction on Monday (April 4).

Staff of Worcester Live have been working hard to secure all sorts of unique and original lots to auction off on the night.

And the hard work has been paying off, with a whole host of local companies stepping forward to donate all manner of services.

Lots so far include tea and a tour of the House of Commons with Worcester’s MP, Robin Walker, a Garden Guru Design Consultation with renowned Designer and Horticulturalist Frank Hardy courtesy of Webbs of Wychbold, and, most recently in, an iconic still from cult film Pirates of the Caribbean, signed by Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp.

Malvern-based fine bone china and ceramics specialists, Bronté Porcelain, have also contributed a ‘top lot’, having donated a completely unique, one-off piece specifically commissioned for the auction: an original painting of Worcester Cathedral on Bronté Fine Bone China by distinguished artist, Tony Young, beautifully mounted and framed.

Entry is free and the Theatre Bar will be open throughout for what promises to be a fantastic night out, and a great way to support the arts in Worcester, and the City’s local theatre.
