Chance to see some real showstoppers at museum

Worcester Editorial 24th Oct, 2022   0

MUSEUM of Royal Worcester chiefs have taken the wraps off its Showstopper Trail with a reception hosted at the iconic building.

Attendees included sponsors and local business people who were as excited as the museum team to celebrate the Porcelain’s’ heritage of innovation, skill and ambition, and share the stories of 25 of their most exceptional objects.

Visitors enjoyed the physical trail around the museum and newly filmed insights into the 250-year history.

Funds raised by the Showstopper Trail will help the museum care for and connect people with the world’s largest collection of Worcester porcelain, together with their unique design and factory archive, in the place where it was made.

Together, it’s hoped this fund-raising can support the magnificent heritage – of local, regional and national importance – so they are here today, and for future generations to visit, enjoy and understand.

Richard Banks, partner at G Herbert Banks – sponsor of the Chamberlain Factory Vase – said: “I really did enjoy the evening! Embarrassingly I had not been to the Museum before, and it really is a rather special asset for the city.

“It is in a lovely setting, and it is all so well presented. The evening was great with a good number of local businesses coming together to support the Showstopper exhibition. Like us, there were business who had never supported such an event before and we were all so pleased to have done so.”

Fiona Blake, development manager at the Museum of Royal Worcester, said: “Thank you to all our Showstopper sponsors who have joined with us to share in and support the museum’s work.

“We appreciate their help looking after this magnificent heritage here in the place where it was made, so that it is accessible now and for future generations.

“We are thrilled the Showstopper Trail is now open, in the museum and online, telling the stories of Worcester porcelain in 25 exceptional objects, with fresh insights from newly filmed video shorts.”
