Celebration offers more than just tea and support

Worcester Editorial 11th May, 2019   0

MUMS in Worcester were among thousands across the country taking part in a nationwide celebration of breastfeeding.

The city’s branch of Coffee#1 took part in the Big Breastfeeding Café event which aims to inspire, empower and provide support to those who wish to, or are already breastfeeding.

Now in its fourth year, the project led by breastfeeding brand Medela, saw thousands of mums connect via a network of mini events on May 1.

Bringing parents together, the cafes provide a space for mums to share their experiences of breastfeeding, the challenges, rewards and first-hand advice over a cup of tea and a slice of cake.

Sioned Hilton, Medela UK’s education manager said: “We are finding time and time again personal advice from mums who have breastfed themselves is invaluable.

“We know breastfeeding can be challenging, but we also know a problem shared, is often a problem halved.

“Ensuring all breastfeeding mums have a reassuring and supportive network is vital.”
