CCTV image released following taxi driver attack

POLICE want to speak to this man in connection with an assault on a taxi driver in Worcester city centre.

The incident happened on Monday, December 22, about 7.50pm on Foregate Street but officers have only just released the photo.

The victim had parked his vehicle at the taxi rank when he was assaulted by a man inside.

Another man then approached the driver and attacked him through the car window.




The victim managed to get away but after a short chase, he was assaulted again by the first man outside the Whitehouse Hotel.

The attack left the driver with minor facial injuries.


Police have described the first offender as white, aged in his mid 20s, of a stocky build, about 5ft 10ins tall and with a beard. He was wearing a black jacket and black trousers.

The second attacker is described as white, 6ft tall, in his late 40s, with short blond hair and was wearing a blue puffer style jacket and jeans.

Anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV image is urged to contact West Mercia Police on the non-emergency number 101 or alternatively information can be given to Crimestoppers, anonymously, by logging onto www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.
