WORCESTER Cathedral is one of the organisations to have benefited locally from a Worcestershire Community Foundation grant to help ensure it continues to meet the needs of vulnerable or isolated residents.
The Cathedral was quick to respond after lockdown by moving its daily services online and the engagement and feedback from Worcestershire and beyond has been extremely positive.
The Rev’d Canon Dr Stephen Edwards said: “Over the past three months we have seen our online viewing numbers increase greatly, bringing the Cathedral’s heritage, community and inspiration to more and more people.
“We know this virtual connection is making a real difference to people who are isolated or seeking connection to this important place.”
The £5,000 grant will enable the Cathedral to improve its video and editing equipment to continue to deliver its live-streamed services, together with new facilities making tours safe and accessible at such a time when visitors can be welcomed once again and to create a new virtual tour for people to access on line.
