BISHOP Perowne CE College staff and students donated more than 2,300 canned and non-perishable food items to Worcester’s food bank.

The feat of kindness was revealed as the result of the school’s Christmas Food Drive which also saw £35 raised in donations for the Lowesmoor venue.

Organiser Erin Butler, lead practioner in Maths, paid tribute to all those who made a donation.

“Due to everything which has taken place in the past 18 month, more people in our local area have had to rely on Worcester Food Bank and we’re delighted to have been able to support their invaluable service.

“It was great to see our school community pull together, and the generosity of our students, their families and my colleagues never fails to surprise me. Special mentions must go to Mr Rogers and his tutor group who donated a massive 287 donations between them, and to Year 10 student Lewis Soady who saved his pocket money to purchase 120 cans of food.”
