Care home dresses up for charity

RESIDENTS and staff at a city care home took a step back in time as they enjoyed a cuppa for charity.

People at Regent Residential Care Home in School Road were dressed from top to toe in their fabulous 1950s finery with polka dot dresses and neckerchiefs galore last Tuesday (March 4).

There was also vintage crockery and bunting plus an abundance of mouth-watering cakes in return for a donation to Dementia UK as well as singer John Estelle entertaining residents and guests with music from the era.

Bridie Gray, activities leader, said: “Our residents had an amazing time and absolutely loved the music – they are still talking about it now.

“They loved getting up and dancing and were delighted to raise £50 for Dementia UK. Everyone looked the part, with polka dot dresses and big hair.”
