Calf is rescued from the Droitwich Canal near Hanbury

A CALF was rescued after getting into difficulty in the Droitwich Canal.

The incident happened in the waterway off Hanbury Road, Hanbury, around 2.55pm yesterday (Thursday) and the fire service were called.

Two Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – one each from Droitwich and Bromyard Fire Stations.

This also included the Bromyard Animal Rescue Team and Water First Responders, plus the boat crew from Worcester.

The large animal was located near the bridge and a sled was launched to rescue it.

The calf was rescued from the canal by a farmer and, in the end, the fire crews were not required.




The incident was dealt with by 4.15pm.
