A SELECTION of popular Worcester and Malvern bus routes have begun as county council chiefs bring more services back on the timetable.

The 21 from Winchester Avenue to Bransford Road, the 24 on Kilbury Drive via Prestwich Avenue and the 39 between Lower Wick and Blackpole via Merrimans Hill are three of the services back on the road this week.

Bus commuters using the 42 between Fruitlands, the356 between Worcester and Grafton Flyford and the 423 between Worcester and Bransford are also back on the timetable.

LMS Travel run a number of buses in Worcestershire and had to cease operation of services due to the pandemic.

Coun Alan Amos, cabinet member for Highways, welcomed the reinstatement of more bus services.

“The company unfortunately had to cease operation of its bus services due to staff capacity issues as a number of its drivers were in the shielded category which made it impossible for it to run its schedule.

“They have informed us that they are installing perspex screens and have put in place rigorous cleaning regimes as well as issuing staff with PPE.

“So we are looking forward to the public regaining the confidence to use bus services again as soon as possible,” he added.
