STUDENTS from a Worcester school recently visited a Buddhist Temple to learn more about Buddhism.
Year nine pupils at Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College spent the day at Amida Mandala in Malvern where they learnt about Buddhist beliefs and lifestyle.
Dayamay, an Amida Shu Buddhist, spoke to pupils about the story of Siddhartha Gautama and how he became the first Buddha or ‘enlightened one.’
After questioning Dayamay on why he became a Buddhist, the students then took part in a few minutes of Buddhist meditation. They also sand some traditional Buddhist chants and reflected on their day at the temple.
Year nine student Ellie Cross said: “It was a very educational trip and helped the class to fully understand what it meant to be a Buddhist.”
