US President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr Jill Biden visited the British Embassy in Washington, DC to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II.
Biden, dressed in dark blue for the sombre occasion was greeted by the British ambassador to the US upon his arrival.
The president asked if he could sign a condolence book, placed upon a table bearing a bouquet of flowers and a photo of the late queen. He wrote for several minutes before walking to address the staff assembled at the embassy.
“We mourn for all of you,” the president said to them. “She was a great lady. We were so delighted we got to meet her.”
