A BREAKDOWN recovery worker has been seriously injured after being involved in a crash while he was working on a broken down car near Worcester.

It happened at 3.40pm this afternoon on Pershore Lane in Hindlip, and left the man trapped between his breakdown van and the broken down car.

A 4×4 had hit the back of the recovery van which was then shunted into the car he was working on.

The man, who was around 30 years old, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken via ambulance to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s major trauma centre.

An ambulance, a paramedic officer, a senior paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The critical care paramedics from the air ambulance travelled with the ambulance.

“The drivers of the broken down car and the 4×4, both women, were unhurt.”
