A BRAVE Worcester mum whose three-year-old son was scarred for life in a shocking acid attack orchestrated by his own father has revealed she may never forgive any of those involved in the horrifying incident.

The mum, who cannot be named for legal reasons, spoke out after the boy’s father and five other men were found guilty and sentenced to a combined total of 78 years at Worcester Crown Court last Wednesday (March 6).

In a statement released by West Mercia Police, the horrified mum revealed she had no idea she was being followed on the day of the attack at Home Bargains on the Shrub Hill Retail Park last July.

“He came running over to me screaming and grabbing his arm, I could see there was an injury but didn’t know how it had been caused,” she said.

“I became hysterical. I noticed red marks then started to develop like a snake up his arm and then reddening to his forehead.”

The boy’s mum paid tribute to the emergency services and to Home Bargains staff whose quick thinking prevented longer term injuries to her little boy and said she was devastated to learn her son had been attacked with acid.

“I couldn’t sleep for weeks and I have repeat nightmares about what happened that day.

“It shocks me to think people could be involved with doing this to a defenceless child and I’m glad they have been brought to justice and will be punished for what they have done.

“It has been extremely hard to accept my three-year-old child has been attacked in such a way and his father was behind this.

“How could he pay for someone to attack our child with acid? How will I explain this to my son?

“I don’t think I will ever forgive any of those involved for what they have put my family through.”

The mum paid tribute to West Mercia Police, to all of the staff at Birmingham Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital who treated her son who, while scarred for life and in need of further support, was described as a ‘happy child’ by his mum.

“I hope this case and sentence makes people consider the consequences before even thinking about acting in such a monstrous way, it’s a family’s life which has been ruined and a young boy who has been scarred for life.

“I would like to take the opportunity to reach out to anyone experiencing any form of abuse, to talk to someone.

“These incidents happen within many communities and I want people to understand that you don’t have to suffer alone,” she added.
