Bosch picks chosen charity causes for year ahead

Worcester Editorial 2nd Jul, 2017   0

EMPLOYEES at a major Worcester company have named Cancer Research UK and the Grace Kelly Ladybird Trust as the two charities they will raise funds for throughout 2017.

Staff at Worcester Bosch recently chose the cancer charities amongst 30 names put forward for consideration.

Both charities were represented during the first of the company’s planned fund-raising coffee mornings, which got the ball rolling earlier this month.

A 100km walk, a wolf run, bake sales, dress down days and a variety of activities are in the pipeline for the coming year.

Victoria Roberts, local fund-raising manager for Cancer Research UK, said: “With the help of employees at Worcester, Bosch Group, we’re working to fund research which will help more men, women and children survive cancer.

“As Cancer Research UK receives no government funding for its ground-breaking research, funds raised through supporters like those at Worcester, Bosch Group are crucial in fighting cancer on all fronts. We wish them the best of luck with their fund-raising.”

Dr Jennifer Kelly, founder of the Grace Kelly Ladybird Trust, said: “The Trust was set up in memory of my daughter, Grace, who passed away in 2014, at the age of four, from a rare form of cancer.

“Our main aim is to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of childhood cancer, so it means a huge amount to us to have the support of Worcester, Bosch Group helping to spread the work we do.”

Sue Pennington, consumer brand manager and charity team member at Worcester, Bosch Group, added: “We’re delighted to be able to offer what support we can to both of these causes, and hope it will go some way to helping save more lives in the future.”
