Bosch backs Worcester Stands Tall project

Worcester Editorial 5th Aug, 2017   0

A MAJOR county company has announced its support of an exciting new art event set to take Worcester by storm in summer 2018.

Worcester, Bosch Group is the latest sponsor to reveal its involvement with Worcester Stands Tall – a project which will see at least 25 decorated giraffe sculptures form an eye-catching art trail through the city’s streets.

Not only has the Worcester-based organisation sponsored a large, 2.5-metre tall sculpture but it has also funded a smaller giraffe, which will be decorated by students and teachers from a local school.

Every giraffe will be proudly displayed for ten weeks next year, before each large sculpture is auctioned to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice. The smaller giraffes will be returned to the schools which decorated them.

Sue Pennington, consumer brand manager at Worcester, Bosch Group, said: “Worcester Bosch has a rich history supporting St Richard’s Hospice.

“We have a large group of employees in Worcestershire who have experienced the great work carried out by St Richard’s – whether it be through a friend or loved one who has received care, or even as a patient themselves.

“We also have an interest in the arts and environment so the opportunity to sponsor a giraffe and also to donate a smaller version to a local school was one we were particularly keen to take up.”

Each giraffe sculpture will be funded by companies and individuals from across Worcestershire – and many sponsors are already signed up to take part.

Then, local and national artists will cover the giraffes in beautiful artwork ready for display next year.

Worcester Stands Tall is a Wild in Art event brought to the city by St Richard’s Hospice.

The money raised by the trail will support St Richard’s free, ongoing care for patients living with life-limiting illnesses, their families and bereaved people across Worcestershire.

Tricia Cavell, fund-raising director at St Richard’s, said: “It is brilliant to have Worcester, Bosch Group standing tall with us for this exciting project.

“By sponsoring both a large and small sculpture, the company will make a real impact across the community with people of all ages.

“We are so pleased to be able to work with schools through this project – and thanks to Worcester Bosch, students will have the chance to get creative and really engage with our art trail.”

Businesses and groups still have time to stand tall and sponsor a giraffe.
