BISHOP Perowne C of E College has unveiled its new headteacher who will take on the role next April.

Mark Pollard, who is currently acting head at Wolverley CE Secondary School near Kidderminster, will replace Julie Farr who steps down after more than a decade in charge at the Merrimans Hill Road school.

Mr Pollard, who lives in Worcester with his wife and two children, was previously deputy headteacher at Wolverley and assistant headteacher at Haybridge High School and Sixth Form in Hagley.

His appointment comes following a selection process held jointly by school governors and the Diocesan Board of Education.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be offered the position and excited about the opportunity and the journey ahead,” Mr Pollard said.

“From what I have seen and learnt of the school already there are solid foundations on which to build an outstanding learning environment.”

Outside of school life, Mr Pollard is an avid sportsman with hobbies that include football, cricket, walking, cycling and going to the gym.

He is also a keen theatre goer and enjoys playing the guitar and piano.
