Worcester Editorial 4th Dec, 2023   0

DOZENS of Santas will be putting pedal to the metal for a good cause with a charity ride across south Worcestershire in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Santas on a Bike is a countrywide charity event inviting bikers to brave the cold weather in Santa suits to spread some cheer around the counties and most importantly raise much needed funds for children’s hospices around the country.

santasonabike.org.uk is a non-profit organisation run by voluntary bikers who want to make a difference in the community for children’s charities, the events have been running for several years but most recently an event run in the Midlands which supports Acorns Hospice in Worcester.

Santas on a Bike Midlands has raised £3,500 in the last two years the event has run, with a turnout of around 60 motorbikes for each event with every rider dressed as Santa or an elf; organisers hope the event can grow year on year.

This year the start point is hosted by Cornmill Yard in Evesham, with volunteer riders leaving the yard at 12midday on Sunday (December 10). Riders will be pass through Broadway, Bretforton and Badsey and back into Evesham for a stop off in the town square at 1pm.

All roads will then lead to Acorns Children’s Hospice’s Worcester base on Bath Road via Pershore High Street to bring the curtain down on another ride to remember.

Acorns Children’s Hospice Trust is a registered charity offering a network of palliative care and support to life-limited and life-threatened children and their families across the West Midlands region and part of South West England, 100% of donations we receive go directly to the hospice.

Santas on a Bike Midlands representative Jeni Long said: “Be sure to give us a wave if you see us out on the road.”
