Bake Off star helps npower fund-raiser

FORMER Great British Bake Off star Andrew Smyth tasted npower’s best bakes for Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Employees at npower’s office in Worcester were joined at their World’s Biggest Coffee Morning by 2016 Great British Bake Off finalist Andrew Smyth.

The popular baker served cakes and talked all things baking as staff raised funds for their charity partner of 13 years, Macmillan Cancer Support.

Andrew baked an exclusive showstopper; a wind turbine cake and npower employees also dusted off their aprons and baked their own cakes for the occasion – from ambitious bakes like Andrew’s to homemade favourites like a Victoria Sponge or Lemon Drizzle.

“Baking is a brilliant way to raise money for such an important cause like Macmillan – it’s lots of fun and is the perfect opportunity to get friends and family together,” Andrew said.

“Whether it’s a secret family recipe, a classic or an inventive bake, I’d encourage everyone to give it a go and get involved this year.”

“Cancer has a huge impact on the lives of so many people and it’s vital that Macmillan can continue to provide crucial support. I’m very proud to be a part of this through my passion for baking.”

Sue Warman, senior analyst at npower’s Worcester office, said: “Coffee Morning is such an important event in the calendar and having Andrew as our special guest this year made it all the more exciting.

“He gave me some great baking tips and I look forward to putting them to the test and raising even more funds for Macmillan in the future.”
