YOUNGSTERS from a Worcester school met a renowned author at Croome’s ‘The Big Friendly Read’ event.
Coach loads of children from Perry Wood Primary School enjoyed the National Trust site’s ‘Summer Reading Challenge’ launch event on Saturday, June 25, where they met Tom Palmer, the author of ‘Over the Line 2016’, which links to the Euro 2016 football championships with the centenary of the Battle of the Somme.
Mr Palmer inspired the children with his stories and signed copies of his book for them.
Sponsored by The Reading Agency, the free challenge aims to keep children reading through their summer holiday and there will be stickers and medals to earn along the way as they reach their target of six books.
Rachel Sharpe, creative partnerships manager at Croome said: “The Summer Reading Challenge is one of the highlights of our year, so it’s wonderful to see Croome’s beautiful landscape full of children and families having a great time.”
