A CHARITY has raised more than £1,400 through a silent auction to go towards the work they do with disabled people.
Worcester Snoezelen, on Turnpike Close, held its second annual art auction from Tuesday (June 23) until Saturday (June 27) at the dance studio at the St John’s campus of the University of Worcester and raised £1,472.
The auctioned items included work from the people who use the services and accomplished artists from the city, such as David Birtwhistle.
Arts coordinator, Sarah Roberts, said: “We are very proud of the talented Snoezelen members who have created such amazing artwork. Thank you to everyone who kindly donated a piece of work to create this wonderful exhibition.
“The Thursday Preview Evening & the final Auction day were both great events with lots of generous bidders.”
The item that received the highest bid was ‘The Walk In The Woods’ a pen and ink drawing by Will Roberts and ‘The Mermaid’ by Laura Gill was a close second.
All 37 pieces that were put on display were sold and more than 100 bids were both both online via social media and in person.
The money raised will go directly towards helping Snoezelen offer more arts and crafts sessions to people with both physical and learning difficulties.
Bidders had the choice to either make their offer in person or online, those who went to see the work for themselves were also able to enjoy a glass of wine while meeting some of the creators.
