A WOMAN was sexually assaulted in an early morning attack in Worcester.

Police said the victim, a woman in her 50s, was found in a distressed state on the grass close to the entrance of the University of Worcester about 2.30am on Sunday (November 30).

She had been pushed to the ground by an unknown man who then tried to undress her.

It is believed she had been attending a Northern Soul evening at the Oldbury Road site.

PC Mark Slade said: “This stranger attack is highly unusual in Worcester and we are urging anyone with information to come forward.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who attended this event at the university and remembers seeing the lady in distress. We also believe that there were vehicles driving past at this time, and would urge anyone who may have seen anything unusual to contact us.”

Anyone with further information can contact police on the non-emergency number 101 or by calling Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
