Appeal to find fly-tippers who dumped rubbish in Leigh Sinton

Worcester Editorial 23rd Jan, 2023   0

AN APPEAL has been launched to find fly-tippers who dumped a load of waste in Leigh Sinton.

Community and Environmental Protection Officers at Malvern Hills District Council made the plea after the incident on January 10 in Dragon’s Lane.

Numerous items were dumped, including cardboard boxes, tarpaulin and commercial waste.

Officers are currently investigating and have found information on a piece of packaging that links an individual to another fly-tip.

The suspect has been called to attend an interview, however officers are appealing to the public for any further information.

This can include details of when the tip was dumped, vehicles which raised concern or any other unusual activity.

Dragon’s Lane is a narrow road in the village and has been fly-tipped multiple times over the past few years.

Coun Sarah Rouse, Ward Member for Leigh Sinton, said:”It is appalling to see Dragon’s Lane the target of our fly-tipping once again.

“It is unacceptable to dump rubbish in our village and to blight our wonderful landscape.

“Thank you to the council’s Environmental Protection Team for their prompt reaction and hard work in cleaning up the area and investigating the culprits, and thank you to the residents who alerted the team.”

Residents are reminded fly-tipping is a criminal offence and are encouraged to follow the SCRAP Code when disposing of their rubbish.

SCRAP stands for ‘Suspect’ all waste carries, ‘Check’ their licence details, ‘Refuse’ unexpected offers to take waste away, ‘Ask’ how the rubbish will be disposed and for ‘Paperwork’ which includes their contact details.
