ORGANISERS behind an award-winning festival are preparing to host a Christmas party of live music in support of hospice care.
Christmas Woo Fest will take place next Friday (December 2) at Worcester’s Marrs Bar from 7pm to raise funds for St Richard’s Hospice.
The event, organised by the Woo Fest team, will feature Andy Bennett, formerly of the band Ocean Colour Scene, alongside local acts including Drifta, Immy and the Boatman and Friends, Nadi Hafren, and family ska band The Cuginis, from Cheltenham.
Luke Simons, Woo Fest organiser, said: “With great artists on the line-up, this is set to be a brilliant party night before Christmas.
“Our event coincides with Worcester’s Victorian Fayre. So, if you’re already in town for the festivities, why not make a night of it and come to Christmas Woo Fest?
“We’re so pleased to be able to hold this event once again to raise valuable funds for St Richard’s, helping it continue its care across Worcestershire.”
The Woo Fest summer festival was held virtually in 2020 and 2021, due to the pandemic, but this year returned to an in-person event. It raised £25,000 – its highest event total to date.
Since its inception in 2015, the Woo Fest team has raised a total of £110,355 for the hospice, which cares for people with serious, progressive illnesses and supports their loved ones.
Jodi Brandwood, community fund-raiser at St Richard’s, said: “We’re sending our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful Woo Fest team – and everyone involved in this event – for supporting our care.
“We hope you can join us for a night of great music, all in the name of hospice care!”
The doors will open from 7pm. Tickets are £12.50 in advance and £15 on the door. All proceeds will go to St Richard’s Hospice.
