A SPORTS campaign is set to kick off a summer of adrenaline fuelled events for all the city to enjoy and get involved in.

#60daysofsport hopes to capture the sporting spirit of Worcester’s residents, businesses and communities when it launches at New Road on Saturday (August 22) for the Under-19s One Day International between England and Australia.

The two-month campaign will also cover the European Wheelchair Basketball Championships at the University of Worcester Arena from Friday August, 28 to Sunday September, 6, which are qualifiers for the Paralympics in Brazil next year.

The 10k Run-Bike-Run on Sunday September, 20 and the Aviva Tour Ride on Sunday October, 4 will also be apart of the campaign, before it finishes with a closing ceremony at Sixways Stadium as Worcester Warriors begin their first Aviva Premiership game of the season, on Friday October, 16.

Coun Ian Hopwood, chairman of Worcestershire County Council said: “#60daysofsport is a great incentive for residents and businesses alike to get involved in sport.

“We have some world-class sporting events in Worcestershire so we’re keen to get everyone immersed in this summer’s activities.”

Residents can keep up to date with the city’s sporting calender by searching the hashtags #60daysofsport and #WorldClassWorcs on Twitter and Facebook.
