A BRAVE Worcester man made the leap of faith in a bid to help rehome pets in a charity bungee jump.

Aaron Wise, of St Peter’s, has already raised more than £130 in aid of Blue Cross For Pets after leaping from a crane in Bromsgrove on Saturday (July 4).

The ‘Big Blue Bungee’ event took place at the Blue Cross rehoming centre, with funds raised going towards the centre’s multi-million pound revamp, which will include refurbishing its dog kennels and building a new cattery.

And following his jump into the unknown, Aaron – a reporter for the Observer’s sister title in Evesham – said: “It was terrifying. Due to the wind conditions there was a bit of a delay which didn’t help the nerves.

“I managed to stay fairly relaxed through the build up and the briefing right up until I was sat in the cage all strapped up about to make the long climb up the crane.

“Thinking back I remember my heart being in my mouth when I looked down at the cage floor to psyche myself up, only to find it had holes in so I could see everything below!

“I honestly thought for a split second I was going to hesitate and start panicking but once the cage reached the top and the gate opened it was just like clockwork.

“I hung my toes over the side and put my arms out in front of me, then the next thing I knew I was hurting towards the ground squealing like a little girl.

“Did I enjoy it? Yes. Would I do it again? Never!”
