WORCESTER’s popular One World in Our Park event returns to the city’s Fort Royal Park on Bank Holiday Monday after scoring a big success with local residents last year.
Boasting a packed family-friendly programme of music, activities and dance, the mini-festival kicks off at 5pm on August 27.
A spectacular view of the Pitchcroft fireworks, from the park created at Worcester’s highest will bring the day to a memorable finale from 10pm.
The programme includes Bhangra dancing, Samba, cheerleading, and Zumba, plus live local band Bitter Roots and the amazing sounds of the Voices Unlimited Choir.
Mayor of Worcester, Coun Jabba Riaz, will officially open the One World in Our Park event, with help from The Commandery’s medieval re-enactors.
The afternoon will also include kids’ sport activities with Freedom Leisure, and children’s rock painting provided by SouthCo.
Refreshments will be available throughout the event including, for the first time, Eastern European cuisine.
One World in Our Park is organised by the Friends of Fort Royal Park and Commandery Gardens, with support from Worcester City Council, Freedom Leisure, Fortis Living and Matthews City and Country Homes.
Event organiser Jenny Brumhead said: “One World in Our Park aims to reflect the diversity of cultures of people who live around Fort Royal Park and I think we’ve got an exciting afternoon of events that will appeal to everyone this year.”
