A will to raise cash

Worcester Editorial 22nd Jan, 2020   0

A HOSPICE has teamed up with two solicitors’ firms to provide a special will-writing scheme next month.

Write a Will Month, led by St Richard’s Hospice, is set to return in February with Bradley Haynes Law, Worcester, and WLS Solicitors, Malvern.

The scheme will see the participating solicitors offer a single will for £95 and a double for £150 – with all the money donated to the Worcestershire charity.

The month-long campaign aims to help the hospice continue funding its care to patients and loved ones, while raising awareness of the importance of writing a will – a document setting out how people want their money, property and possessions to be distributed after their death.

Ria Simmons, one of the fund-raisers, thanked the solicitors’ firms for donating their time for free and added they were pleased to be re-running the scheme.

“We hope our event will encourage people to take the first step and book an appointment, while helping to tackle the taboos around preparing for the end-of-life.”

Andrew Bradley, chairman and founder of Bradley Haynes Law, said he was delighted to be helping the hospice again.

WLS will be arranging several appointments in Malvern.

Ellis Lee from WLS added: “St Richard’s Hospice is a charity that is close to our hearts and we are proud to support such a valuable cause.”

The hospice cares for 3,400 patients and their families each year across Worcestershire.
