A taste of royalty at the Commandery

Rob George 26th Aug, 2021

ASPIRING princesses and noble knights are being sought at The Commandery this Bank Holiday Monday (August 30).

The Powerful Princesses and Noble Knights family fun day runs from 10am to 5pm and throughout the day children can have fun following the Dragon Quest Trail, and make their own shields, amulets and crowns to protect them along their way.

Out in the beautiful Commandery gardens, all Knights and Princesses are welcome to enjoy the spectacular inflatable Fantasy Fun Run which includes an assortment of obstacles, a large bouncing area and a fantastic slide finale.

Hobby horse jousting and races will also take place in the garden at 11am, 1pm and 3pm – extra points will be awarded to anyone in costume.

Helen Manning, events and activities co-ordinator at The Commandery said “We’re really excited about our Powerful Princess and Noble Knights Day and are thrilled that our poet in residence, Leena Batchelor, has written a fantastic Dragon Quest trail for families to enjoy.

“The inflatable fun run is also great fun and everyone will be able to cheer on their family members in the jousting and hobby horse racing, so put on your best costume and come and join us!”

Inside The Commandery, visitors of all ages can enjoy learning all about the history of this fascinating building through exhibitions, objects and interactives and there is also a great canal-side café serving delicious cakes, drinks and snacks throughout the day.
