CREATIVE residents at a Worcester care home baked up tasty treats as part of a special festive competition

Care UK’s Perry Manor on Charles Hastings Way hosted its very own edition of the Great British Bake Off with residents challenged to prepare their favourites.

To be crowned star bakers, teams made up of residents and staff showcased their skills by preparing and decorating spectacular ‘showstoppers’, mirroring the show’s famous challenge.

Cakes prepared on the day included Victoria Sponge and a chocolate and caramel creation, with the Cromwell Suite’s carrot cake chosen as the winner by the home’s head chef.

Home manager Katherine Matthews said: “With so many enthusiastic, skilled bakers living at the home, we felt hosting our own version was the best way to determine once and for all who Perry Manor’s true ‘star bakers’ were.

“Everyone got very competitive, and we were blown away by the residents’ creativity – it was hard to pick a winner.”
