A challenge in the business of raising cash

Worcester Editorial 14th Apr, 2023   0

BUSINESS brains across Worcester and Malvern are being sought to ‘do something wonderful’ to support a local children’s cancer charity.

The Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust is inviting local businesses to put the fun in fund-raising and take on their Corporate Challenge this year.

Taking part is simple. Businesses must sign up as soon as possible before Friday, May 5 and join their fund-raising leader board.

The challenge will officially launch on Thursday, June 1 with a breakfast networking event at Kingsway House – where will be plenty of photo opportunities for supporters as the charity hands over their shiny £50 notes.

Businesses will then be able to share their success stories at a Friday Fizz event, also at Kingsway House, on September 2. To register and take part, please go to: www.gkcct.org/corporate-challenge-2023

The Trust receives no statutory funding so wholly relies on supporters to help them raise the £400,000 they need each year to fund their vital services and make a difference to the lives of children fighting cancer.

Coralie Hudson, fund-raiser at the Trust, said: “With so many amazing businesses across the county, we thought what better way to promote some healthy competition by asking them to use their skills to grow £50 into a bigger donation and support local families facing childhood cancer.”

“We’ve had so much interest already, and teams will be in a great creative company.

“We know lots of supporters who like to think outside the box, and who are equally competitive, so we cannot wait to hear what everyone comes up with. We would also love to welcome new business supporters to the fold, to learn more about what we do and have lots of fun too.”

The Trust funds research in to rare and aggressive childhood cancers, educates families and clinicians about the signs and symptoms of childhood cancer and produces medical information booklets to explain to parents and children about the treatments they are facing.
