A WORLD renowned lute player is set to show off his string skills in Worcester this weekend.

Virtuoso David Miller will play at St Martin’s Church in London Road on Saturday (October 18) as part of its International Artist Series.

His programme, Masters of the Lute, features music by the three greatest lute players and composers in the 17th and 18th centuries from England, France and Germany.

Shirley Scott, administrator of music at St Martin’s, said she was confident the audience would be wowed by David.

“He’ll be using four different instruments ranging from the small English Renaissance lute to the largest German Baroque lute,” she said.

“The audience will be taken on a voyage of discovery as he introduces and plays some of the most exquisite music composed for the lute in the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods.”

The concert begins at 7.30pm – doors open at 6.45pm, with a licensed bar available. Tickets are £10 for adults, accompanied under 16s free. Details are on www.stmartinsworcester.org.uk, and tickets and more information are available from Shirley Scott on 01905 351748 or [email protected].
