THE UNIQUE career of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll is set to be played out at the Swan Theatre in Worcester on Friday (May 9).
Featuring the original star of the hit West End musical, Jailhouse Rock, Mario Kombou, and his incredible band, The Elvis Years 1954-1977, is the UK’s number one Elvis show.
While there are many Elvis impersonators, there are few able to recreate his entire musical career. Mario starred as Vince Everett in the hit West End musical version of Jailhouse Rock – the lead role made so famous by Elvis in the original film version, and considered by many to have been Elvis’s finest performance.
In 2005, in Memphis, Tennessee, Mario was also voted ‘Images of the King World Champion’, with Elvis’s cousin Donna Presley declaring Mario “the best Elvis since Elvis”.
Joined by a ten-strong cast of experienced West End performers, Mario delivers a tour de force performance in this spectacular show packed with over 50 greatest hits from throughout the whole of Elvis’s astonishing career; from the early days of Sun Studios and That’s Alright Mama, through the Hollywood years of GI Blues and It’s Now or Never, to the ’68 TV special with All Shook Up, and culminating in the legendary Las Vegas concerts, with In The Ghetto, Suspicious Minds and American Trilogy.
The show starts at 8pm. Tickets cost £19.50 and are available from the Worcester Live Box Office on 01905 611427.
