Sunshine Festival, now preparing for it’s eight year, is set to, in 2018, further cement its place as the heart of England’s greatest family festival. The three day event is held over the August bank holiday weekend in the picturesque setting of Upton upon Severn, with a stunning backdrop of the Malvern Hills. Each and every year it welcomes musical and variety legends from across the musical spectrum and this year is no different.

BAD MANNERS


Still going strong and now into their fourth decade of creating Mod Mayhem. This legendary British Ska band are still packing venues out all over the world.

Tours of the USA, Australia and Europe still dominate their heavy touring schedule and the band are still fronted by the man himself Buster Blood vessel. clude

Formed in the mid 70s, the band line up has always been fluid and interchangeable with one exception BUSTER BLOODVESSEL – the man of gargantuan proportions with a tongue that defies belief! By the late 70s the band had built up a huge following, both in Britain and overseas and between 1980 and 1983, Bad Manners spent 111 weeks in the op charts and had fifteen hit singles including Lip up Fatty, Special Brew, Lorraine, Just a Feelin, Ne Ne Na Na Na Na Nu Nu, Can Can and Walking in the Sunshine.

Bad Manners have always been a non-stop party band and continue to hold that accolade to this date, touring extensively both in Britain and abroad.

Glen Matlock

Best known for being the bass guitarist in the original line-up of the punk rock band the Sex Pistols. He is officially credited as a co-author on 10 of the 12 songs on Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols, although he had left the band by the time the record was released and the bass was played by Steve Jones. He also continues to make his own records and tour with various bands, including the Sex Pistols.

The Korgis

The British pop band known mainly for their hit single “Everybody’s Got to Learn Sometime” in 1980. The band was originally composed of singer/guitarist/keyboardist Andy Davis and singer/bassist James Warren ,both former members of 1970s band Stackridge, along with violinist Stuart Gordon and keyboardist Phil Har

Status Quo

One of the UK’s most successful bands of all time

Status Quo have racked up an amazing sixty top 40 hits including Whatever You Want, Rockin’ All Over the World, Caroline and In the Army Now. Twenty two of the hits reached the Top 10 and in 1991, Status Quo received a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

Heather Small

Heather Small was one of the most gifted soul music singers of her generation and in the 80s and 90s she was also one of the most famous musicians in the UK.

Heather Small is an English soul singer, best known for being the lead singer in the band M People. Her debut solo album was Proud, which was released in 2000. After a chance meeting with Manchester DJ Mike Pickering, formerly of Quando Quango, Small and her distinctive voice helped to sell over 10 million albums worldwide singing with his group M People. They had considerable success with songs such as “Moving On Up” and “Search for the Hero”.

George McCrae

Go West

Sensational Pop Duo

Go West are an English pop duo, formed in 1982 by lead vocalist Peter Cox and rhythm guitarist and backup vocalist Richard Drummie. The duo enjoyed their peak of popularity between the mid 1980s and the early 1990s and are best known for the international top 10 hits “We Close Our Eyes”, “Call Me” and “King of Wishful Thinking”. They were named Best British Newcomer at the 1986 Brit Awards.

Five Star

The 80’s Sensations

Five Star are a British pop/R&B group, formed in 1983. The five-piece group of siblings from Romford were masterminded by their father and manager, Buster Pearson, in the style of The Jackson 5. He was a former recording artist and session musician who had worked with Wilson Pickett and had set up Tent Records Ltd in 1982. Their debut single was released on Tent in 1983 and although it did not chart, it gave them TV exposure and a record deal with RCA Records.

Aswad

Legendary British Reggae Group

Aswad are a long-lasting British reggae group, noted for adding strong R&B and soul influences to the reggae sound. They have been performing since the mid-1970s, having released a total of 21 albums. “Aswad” means “black” in Arabic. The members of Aswad are UK descendants of immigrants from the Caribbean.

The Wurzels

Demand for Wurzel music has also resulted in yet another ‘Greatest Hits’ collection – there appears to be no end to the phenomenon of ‘The Wurzels’ – hardly a day goes by now when they can’t be found on stage, appearing on TV shows, raising money for charities close to their hearts and most of all bringing so much pleasure to so many people with simple sing-along numbers extolling the virtues of living in the land of cider andsunshine.

Katrina & the Waves

Walking on “at” Sunshine… We can’t wait…

Katrina and the Waves were a British-American rock band best known for the 1985 hit “Walking on Sunshine”. They also won the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Love Shine a Light”.

The Katrina and the Waves album was a substantial critical and commercial success, and the group had a worldwide hit with the song “Walking onSunshine”. A Grammy award nomination for “Best New Artist” followed, as did constant touring, both of which helped to spur moderate sales of new releases.

Secret Affair

The Mod Sensations are back!

Secret Affair are a mod revival band, formed in 1978 and disbanded in 1982. They reformed to perform and record in the 2000s. Formed after the demise of the CBS Records signed power pop band New Hearts, singer IanPage and guitarist David Cairns spent the second half of 1978 writing songs that would form the basis of the first two Secret Affair albums.

After spending January 1979 demoing songs, Page and Cairns enlisted the services of bassist Dennis Smith from the power pop band Advertising and Young Bucks drummer Seb Shelton. Saxophone player Dave Winthrop, originally playing with the group in his capacity as a session musician, would join as a full-time member of the band later in the year. The music videos for several of the band’s songs were directed by Steve Barron.
