A SPECIAL performance of The Pirates of Penzance is hoping to produce a treasure trove of funds for the Mayor of Worcester’s chosen charities.

Great Witley Operatic Society (GWOS) and friends will be presenting a ‘scratch’ performance of the famous Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera on Saturday, April 27, at 7.30pm in the Assembly Room in the Guildhall.

Pulled together in less than 24 hours, the evening show will be a stripped down performance featuring a chorus and cast of past and present GWOS members.

Among them will be Jane Dodd – Great Witley’s former leading soprano who went on to be a member of the world famous D’Oyly Carte Opera Company and appeared in The Phantom Of The Opera, as well as Worcester Mayoress Jill Berry.

The show will raise funds for Mayor Coun Roger Berry’s chosen charities, St Paul’s Hostel and Maggs Day Centre.

Tickets cost £10 each, including a glass of wine or a soft drink, and are available from Worcester Tourist Information Centre at the Guildhall, The Mayor’s Office on 01905 722001 or Caroline Causier on 01905 455191.
