THE FOUNDER of legendary rock group Dire Straits is set to perform in Worcester as part of a special 40th anniversary tour to celebrate his musical career.

Critically acclaimed guitarist David Knopfler will perform his new double CD, titled ‘Anthology Volumes 2 and 3’ at Huntingdon Hall next Thursday (January 26), with special guest Harry Bogdanovs.

In 1977, David Knopfler founded Dire Straits, and along with his brother Mark, went on to achieve worldwide stardom and acclaim, before enjoying a successful solo career as a singer-songwriter.

The talented musician has released more than a dozen albums and performed at countless sold out concerts around the globe.

Harry Bogdanovs, who has joined the likes of John Farnham, The Shadows, Elton John and Marius Müller-Westernhagen on stage with his guitars, piano and backing vocals, will be reunited with Knopfler once again, after several performances together in the early 80s.

David said: “I don’t regard what I do as remotely glamorous. I write and record music because I completely love doing it.”

So come along to this enthralling evening to witness a truly multi-instrumental masterpiece.

The event starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £19.50.
