Lee Nelson to headline first University Arena comedy night

TELEVISION star Lee Nelson is set to headline the University of Worcester Arena’s first comedy night this autumn.

Cheeky chappy Nelson, who has featured on Live at the Apollo and has his own BBC Three show, will deliver his stand-up act to what is expected to be a sell-out crowd on Tuesday, September 16.

Supporting him will be award-winning comedian Phil Wang, with Mark Smith, from MTV fame as MC for the evening.

April White, arena manager, said: “We are thrilled to be hosting our first Comedy Night at the Arena this autumn.

“The Arena is a superb venue for the City of Worcester and wider region and we want to show that as well as first class sporting events, we can also host top cultural activities.

“We have a programme of non-sporting events coming up at the Arena in the coming months, including a top classical music concert, details of which we will be announcing in due course.”

Lee Nelson is the alter ego of former medical doctor Simon Brodkin.

He performed his first solo show at the Edinburgh Festival in 2006 and has since become a regular on the comedy circuit.

There are more than 1,500 tickets costing £20 and the event is for over 18s only. The doors open at 7.30pm.

Tickets, which go on sale on Friday (May 23) can be bought from Ticketline or directly from the Arena Box Office.
