THE UK’S biggest band will return for their annual show in Worcester when Joe Broughton’s Conservatoire Folk Ensemble take to the stage at Huntingdon Hall.
Formed in 1997 at Birmingham’s prestigious Conservatoire by fiddle player and arranger Joe Broughton (The Urban Folk Quartet, The Albion Band, Joss Stone), they became famed for their energetic and powerful shows, where traditional English and Celtic reels slide into full-on rock grooves, funk, jazz, hip-hop, ska and reggae.
This is very much 21st century folk and has been labelled ‘Power Folk’ by fans.
The band’s touring line-up features a stage-challenging 50 members. Among them are 15 horns, four cellos, five percussionists, five electric guitarists and a harp.
Music lovers can hear the ensemble for themselves at the show next Friday (June 7) from 7.30pm.
