Derulo back to his best with Tattoos album

Worcester Editorial 26th Nov, 2013 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016

AMERICAN singer, songwriter and dancer Jason Derulo has bounced back from a serious neck injury with his excellent third album ‘Tattoos’.

Big names and big tracks rock Tattoos from the very first track ‘The Other Side’ which  recorded 92,000 sales in its first week of release.

His success is all the more remarkable given Derulo was sidelined with a serious neck injury for several months in 2012.

Tattoos charts the gruelling rehabilitation Derulo underwent with the man himself describing a life altering experience like his accident while preparing for his Future World History Tour as ‘like a tattoo stuck to you life’.

Derulo co-wrote 11 songs on the album and the ownership comes across as Derulo pours all of his passion into a varied tracklist.

One of the highlights is ‘Talk Dirty’ with 2 Chainz, a song which recorded an astronomical five million hits on You Tube even before it was released in September.

Girlfriend Jordin Sparks appears with Derulo for ‘Vertigo’ while romantic ballard ‘Marry Me’ is full of emotion.

Pitbull and The Game lend their talents to ‘Fire’ and ‘Side FX’ respectively to complete an album which will only raise Derulo’s profile even further.

Not being a fan before listening to the album, I researched Derulo and found he’d sold 25 million singles and was proclaimed ‘the natural heir to Justin Timberlake’.

Based on this offering, I am not surprised at his success – you better watch out Justin!
