Crisp hoarders take to eBay as Walkers confirm IT glitch

HUNGRY snack lovers who are unable to get their hands on Walkers crisps due to shortages are now seeing prices of about £8 for single packet being peddled on eBay.

Chancers are seizing on the lack of crisps from the manufacturer to bump up the prices online for people who can’t wait any longer.

And it’s worse for those wanting more than a single pack with multipacks being flogged for as much as £17.99. One seller is trying to flog a single bag of Prawn Cocktail crisps for a staggering £1.90

It comes as Walkers warned suppliers that their products may not be back on shelves for another month due to an IT problem.

A Walkers spokesman said: “A recent IT system upgrade has disrupted the supply of some of our products. Our sites are still making crisps and snacks, but at a reduced scale.

“We’re doing everything we can to increase production and get people’s favourites back on shelves.

“We’re very sorry for the inconvenience caused.”

Supermarket shelves have been hit the hardest by the shortage, though smaller shops seem to be bearing up ok under the strain.
