Celebrating the Santana sound

Worcester Editorial 18th Sep, 2018   0

A EVENING celebrating four decades of music from latin American rocker Carlos Santana will take to the stage at Worcester’s Swan Theatre.

Hailed as the best Santana tribute in the country, Oye Santana was recently voted through to the finals of the Best Band category at this year’s National Tribute Music Awards.

The seven-piece tribute to the music of Carlos Santana was among 90 acts nominated in the category and was one of just six bands to be chosen as finalists.

Oye Santana first started playing together in pubs in 2012 and as their fan base grew they started to play less in pubs and more in arts venues.

From Smooth to Black Magic Woman, Maria Maria, Samba Pa Ti and She’s Not There, guitarists Milan Webb, vocalists Hector Gomez and Auriol Langbridge, Paul Murphy on percussion, Gez Kahan on keyboards, Jon Quirk on bass and Pete Lockwood on drums offer a top tribute to the man himself.

The show kicks off at 7.30pm on Saturday (September 22) and tickets are £17 from the Box Office on 01905 611427.
