Capturing the Knopfler sound

Worcester Editorial 11th Sep, 2018   0

MUSIC lovers are being invited to Huntingdon Hall to discover how Dire Streets capture the distinctive, authentic sound of one of the biggest guitar bands of all time.

Fronted by John Brunsdon on guitar, Mark Dryden on keyboards, Gaz Keenan playing rhythm guitar, Eoin McQuone on bass guitar and Dik Chandler on drums, the band plays with an attention to detail and musicianship which marks them as a stand-out Dire Straits tribute act.

Dire Streets cover tracks from early classics like Sultans of Swing and Lady Writer, through to the mega-hits of the 80s and Brothers in Arms, taking in all the classic album and live versions from the legendary Alchemy, Live Aid and Mandela concerts.

Despite forming at the height of punk, Dire Straits front man Mark Knopfler’s distinctive style gave the band an alternative sound.

The band reached its peak in the mid-80s and so far record sales have reached more than 100 million worldwide, with Knopfler still widely regarded as one of the finest guitarists and songwriters this country has produced.

Dire Streets will take to the stage on Friday, September 21 from 7.30pm and tickets are £18.
