WORCESTER City have handed manager Chris Cornes a new two-year deal to keep him at the club until 2028.
Cornes secured back-to-back promotions from Step Five to Step Three in his first two full seasons at the helm.
And the Worcester boss guided City to a ninth-place finish in the Southern League Premier Central last season.
Worcester finished seven points outside of the play-off places last term and Cornes hopes City can improve on their league position in 2026/27.
Cornes said: “I’m delighted to have signed up again for another two years, and having the certainty behind that in, echoing what Simon [Lancaster] mentioned.
“We’ve done really well over the last few years, and long may that continue, not just on the pitch, but off it as well.
“Continuing, always improving, and making the club more sustainable. This will lead to a brighter future as we grow and continue the positive work in the community.
“As a group, with Tim [Harris] we buy into it all, and we’re doing everything behind the scenes to continue improving.
“Again, I’m delighted to sign for another two years, and hopefully we can have as good, if not better season than last year.”
Club owner, Simon Lancaster added: “We’re really pleased to get Chris signed up for another two years.
“Obviously, he was entering the last year of his previous contract, so that certainty is good for everyone connected with the club, the fans, our sponsors, our staff and the players.
“It’s been a really successful time with Chris as manager, with the promotions, the start that we made at Step Three, and the trophies, but I think for me more than that, it’s that Chris buys into our longer term vision of facilities, the commercial operations, the youth, the community, and what we’re trying to build here, which is something sustainable for the future.”
Director of football, Tim Harris said: “The success of any football club comes with stability.
“You see a lot of clubs changing managers, always chasing the dream, but what we have here is, and what we’re continuing to build on, is that stability.
“We’ve got someone in Chris that is absolutely, totally committed to this club.
“We’ve got someone in Simon that is also totally committed to the club, and it continues to work.
“We’re delighted that we can move forward again for another two years.”
