RESIDENTS and visitors are advised of temporary road closures and traffic management measures taking place on Sunday to accommodate St George’s Day parades in Worcester.
These annual events, led by local Scout and Guide groups, are expected to attract significant community participation. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and allow additional travel time.
Worcester Parade
The Worcester Scouts St George’s Day Parade will take place between 1pm and 4.30pm requiring full road closures in the city centre on the following roads:
- Angel Place (from Angel Street to Broad Street)
- Bank Street
- Broad Street
- Church Street
- High Street (including Cathedral Square)
- Mealcheapen Street
- Pump Street
- The Shambles
Temporary traffic control measures will be in place on St Swithin’s Street (outside NatWest Bank) to allow the parade to safely move between Broad Street and High Street. This arrangement follows the same format as in previous years.
Additionally, the pedestrian crossing on Deansway adjacent to Cathedral Square will be manually operated to facilitate safe movement of the parade to and from the cathedral.
To minimise disruption, the parade will once again be split into two sections, following successful implementation of this approach in 2025.
This measure was introduced after extended traffic delays were experienced in 2024.
