Work finally to get underway on upgraded crossing in Worcester

WORKS are set to get underway to upgrade the pedestrian crossing on Windermere Drive in Worcester.

These works were delayed by a month by a burst water main emergency.

The works are scheduled to begin on Monday (April 20) to convert the current zebra crossing into a puffin crossing. Work will also take place to install additional traffic calming speed cushions.

To enable the works to be undertaken safely, there will be various lane and road closures throughout the construction. These include a one-way road closure, diverting via Goldsmith Road and Walnut Avenue in a clockwise direction between April 20 and May 15. There will also be full road closures in place on Windermere Drive between 5pm and 11pm on May 10, 17 and 24.

These dates are subject to suitable weather conditions allowing the works to progress as planned.

Works are expected to be completed in late May. There will then be a full safety audit before the crossing can open.
